St. Anthony’s High School. Turkey Thicket Playground. Archbishop Carroll H.S. and their legendary 55 game winning streak. What do these all have in common? Brookland, the center of the basketball universe.
Local authors Rosie Dempsey (McKinley Armstrong’s neighbor) and John Feeley, Jr., have written a picture history of the community that gave us Jack Sullivan, Monk Malloy, Tom Little, Michael Bossard, Tom Sluby, John Battle, and a host of other basketball players.
The authors will guest on Washington’s WAMU radio today at 1 p.m., Saturday at 7 a.m., and the interview segment will then be available online. They have a book event at St. Anthony’s on Oct. 9.
