Danny Ferry Steps Down as Cavs’ G.M.

Former DeMatha High school star Danny Ferry stepped down after five years as the most successful general manager in the history of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ferry’s team boasted the winningest record in the NBA over the past two seasons. Ferry was not only national high school player of the year (with Danny Manning), but College Player of the Year at Duke University.

From Ferry’s Duke teams- the local boys have gone on to leadership roles. Tommy Amaker (W.T. Woodson) is head coach at Harvard, Johnny Dawkins (Mackin) at Stanford, and Billy King (Park View) was general manager of the Philadelphia 76’ers. The D.C. talent pipeline saved Mike Kryszewski’s job during his early years in Durham.
