Monica Wright, Jasmine Thomas Named USBWA All-America

Former Forest Park All-Met Monica Wright of the Virginia (Lady) Cavaliers is named first team All-American by the US Basketball Writers Association:

There are seven first-time All-America selections this season, including Charles and Ogwumike: Alysha Clark of Middle Tennessee, Victoria Dunlap of Kentucky, Kelsey Griffin of Nebraska, Jasmine Thomas of Duke and Monica Wright of Virginia. Dunlap, Griffin and Wright are the first players ever selected to the USBWA Women’s All-America Team from their respective schools since the association began naming a team during the 1996-97 season.

Oakton High’s Jasmine Thomas was also named- her 29 points led the Lady Blue Devils past San Diego State to advance to the Elite Eight.

  1. I think this on of the true acknolegement list that’s got it right for last season. I don’t know how you omit Jasmine Thomas from those other National list. Its crazy! If you look at it she has done the most for her team, and taking them the furthest without having any major stars on her team like these other player’s team does! Everybody in the country know she was rob of the ACC regular season MVP! How can you not give this kid that award when she let her team to the ACC regular season champs, and the ACC Tournament Championship! Not only that, this kid led her team in scoring, assists, mins. played and steals. Come on! You guys that make all the decision and choose these players for these post season award really have to do a better job of choosing the players that really deserve them, and not this political bull that goes on all the time!!!
