DeMatha product’s 20 points and six assists keep Hoyas in the game, but his missed jumper at the close, helped seal a 62-59 victory by Marquette:
Freeman’s scoring 14 points per game this season, and his homeboy, former St. John’s All-Met Chris Wright, also averages 14 for Georgetown. When the Hoyas, who are coached by 1980’s Gonzaga High All-Met John Thompson III, routed DePaul 67-50 last Sunday, former schoolboy rivals Wright (18 points) and Freeman (contributed 17) led the charge.
In addition, Wright was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll the previous week, on the heels of his performance in a win over Harvard. In that tilt, he career-high 34 points, hitting 13 of his 21 shots from the field, and 6 out of 7 of his free throws. The junior from Bowie tallied 21 of his 34 points after intermission. Wright scored half of Georgetown’s points in the second half.
