ESPN RISE Names Top 50 Schoolboy Ballers Ever

Lew Alcindor was number one:

Can’t argue with that one. The Big Guy’s only high school blemish was a loss to DeMatha Catholic here in February of 1965 at Cole Field House. Bernard Williams, Bob Whitmore, Sid Catlett, Ernie Austin and Mickey Wiles starred for the victorious Stags.

Also worth nothing on the EPSN RISE homepage are the Top 10 national rankings achieved by local high schools DeMatha (#7), Montrose Christian (#8) and Gonzaga (10th). Congrats to their youngsters.

  1. 1967 St.John’s College High Schools b-ball team was very solid with Collis Jones, Tim Brant, Lenny “Rags” Aden, Ned Krause, Jim McClusky.
    One of the best.

    • Killer Unit, thanks Mr. Brant. That was the Austin Carr-Louis Grillo-Jim LeBuff era of Washington Catholic basketball.
