Two Cities Are Red on Roundball

DC Basketball founding member Bijan C. Bayne is quoted about schoolyard basketball in Boston in the March issue of SLAM magazine. Washington and Boston have an enduring hoops relationship- legendary Celtics´Coach Red Auerbach lived in D.C., Boston College star John Austin was a DeMatha product, championship Georgetown Coach John Thompson played for the Celtics, and DeMatha and Western H.S. All Mets James Brown and Floyd Lewis starred together at Harvard (on the other side of the Charles River) in the early 1970´s. Longtime George Washington University Coach Mike Jarvis was from Cambridge, as was his former high school star- eventual Georgetown All-Everything Pat Ewing.
