For the Hoyas, frosh Austin Freeman of DeMatha scored 15 points on six-for-nine shooting, including a 3 of 4 night from three-point range. Georgetown Prep (Rockville) product Roy Hibbert added 12 points, four blocked shots, and a half-dozen boards. It was the first time the Hoyas had copped the conference back-to-back.
Springbrook’s Folarin Campbell led a 63-52 George Mason grudge win over Northeastern by popping in his usual 20 points. The victory placed them in the CAA semifinals. North Carolina topped rival Duke 76-68, Clinton, Md.’s Ty Lawson had three steals, three assists, and 10 points in the effort. Locals Marcus Ginyard (Bishop O’Connell-UNC) and Nolan Smith (Upper Marlboro, Md.-Duke) also played in the contest.
