Around the Basketball World

In Maryland’s 70-65 defeat of Boston College, James Gist of Good Counsel scored 23 points on nine-for-eleven shooting. Marcus Ginyard scored 16 in 33 minutes, with five rebounds and three assists in UNC’s 89-78 loss to Duke. He sank all eight of his free throws. Ginyard attended Bishop O’Connell in Alexandria. Michael Beasley scored 35, with 13 rebounds, for a Kansas State (season) record 18th “double-double” to lead the Wildcats to a 74-59 triumph over Nebraska. Beasley shot 15-for-21, and nailed two three-pointers. He had three steals in the win. The local secondary schools Beasley attended included Bowie High, Riverdale Baptist, and National Christian Academy. He’s gonna be good once he realizes that college ball is supposed to be more difficult than high school.

In the NBA, Kevin Durant’s 17 helped Seattle beat Sacramento, 105-92. It was the young Sonics’ fourth victory in five games.
