Magruder High product Jerome Williams to appear (with his brother) at a late January event described thus by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass:

Jerome & Johnnie Williams
January 30th, 2008 – 10:00AM

“…Jerome Williams, aka “Junkyard Dog”, played 9 seasons in the NBA with the Pistons, Raptors, Bulls and Knicks. He earned an award as one of the “Good Guys in Sports” by initiating a citywide mentoring program in Detroit and producing a rap CD with a positive message for teens. His brother, Johnnie is a youth activist, columnist, and visionary who speaks to thousands of students about setting goals, embracing education, and reaching their personal best by avoiding negative influences. He encourages youth to “Shoot for Your Dreams”. Together, they will inspire students with their exciting style and relevant message…”

Jerome’s mom taught in the Montgomery County Public School system. When the date draws nearer, we’ll post details about another upcoming Hall of Fame presentation by a local product, Alexandria’s Earl Lloyd- who will be there on March 19.
